Introduction: Klondike Solitaire is perhaps the most popular solitaire card game around. It is easy to play, very relaxing, and doesn't take a lot of time per game.
Spiderette is similar to Klondike Deal 1, but with a lot of variation. There are no foundation piles: all building in on the tableau. Building is down regardless of suit, but sequences of cards may be moved only if they are in suit. Gaps in the tableau are filled with any card or valid sequence. Gaps must be filled before dealing from the stock.
Goal: Build all cards down in sequence, from ace to king, directly on the tableau piles.
Time: About 10-12 minutes
Wins: Rarely
Decks: One Deck
Layout: The layout for Spiderette is very similar to that of Klondike Deal 1, except that there are no foundation piles. . Here is a sample initial layout of an Spiderette Aces game.
Play: The goal in Spiderette is to build each tableau pile in suit from king down to ace (King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace).
The face-up cards on the tableau are available for play. In order to build up the cards on the tableau, you need to uncover the face-down cards in the tableau, to get them into play. You do this by moving tableau cards onto other tableau piles. Cards on the tableau are build down regardless of suits. So, in this way, any queen may be placed onto any king. And, any six may be placed onto any 7. But, sequences of cards may be moved from one tableau column to another only if they are the same suit. These face-up cards are overlapped, so that you can see what they are. The high card is a king and the low card is an ace, so a king may not be placed on an ace in Klondike. When a face-down card becomes uncovered, and hence, becomes the top-most card in a column , that face-down card is now turned face-up and is now available for play. Cards in sequence on a column in the tableau may be moved as a unit, but only if they are the same suit.
When no more moves can be made on the tableau, click on the stock pile to deal one card to the top of each tableau pile. But, gaps in the tableau must be filled before dealing from the stock. Creating a gap, and getting the face-down cards uncovered and available for play is usually a good move in this Spiderette Klondike variation of solitaire.
Continue playing in this manner. Move cards between tableau piles, and dealing from the stock pile., trying to uncover face-down tableau cards. When the stock pile is empty, in this variation of Klondike, there are no more redeals allowed.
Gaps: Gaps in the tableau in Klondike are made when all of the cards are moved out of a column of the tableau. When this happens in Spiderette Solitaire, the gap may be filled with any card or valid sequence.
Redeals: In this variation of Klondike, there are no redeals.
