Introduction: Whitehead is similar to Klondike Deal 1 with the following excpetions. All tableau cards are dealt face-up, building on the tableau is done in the same color, but sequences can be moved only if they are in the same suit, gaps are filled with any card or valid sequence, cards may not be taken from the foundation piles, and there are no redeals.
Goal: Build up all cards in sequence, from ace to king, on the four foundation piles.
Time: About 5-6 minutes
Wins: Rarely
Decks: One Deck
Layout: After shuffling, 7 tableau piles are dealt in a similar way to Klondike Deal 1, excpet that all card are face-up. There will have been dealt 28 cards in 7 columns, with 1 card in the first, or left-most column, and 7 cards in the 7th, or right-most column. Four spaces are left open for foundation piles. These are in the top right part of your layout. The rest of the deck is placed in the stock pile. Here is a sample initial layout of an Whitehead game.
Play: The goal in Whitehead is to build each foundation pile in suit from ace to king (Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King). Playing the game is very similar to playing Klondike Deal 1, with the exception that cards are build down in the same color. Sequences, however, can be moved only if they are of the same suit, so it makes sense to build down by suit when possible. That makes this game a tough one to win. Whitehead is one Klondike game where cards may not be taken off the foundation and placed on the tableau.
Gaps: Gaps may be filled with any card or valid sequence of the same suit.
Redeals: In this Whitehead variation of Klondike, there are no redeals.
